Joining the Early Adopter Program

Overview

This article covers how to switch the Early Adopter Program on for a phone system, what happens when you do, where each feature's settings live, and how to leave again if you need to.

Joining takes a few minutes, causes no downtime, and there is no cost.

1. Start from the phone system page

In the portal go to 'Services' and open the phone system you want to enrol. A banner at the top of the page says there is new capability ready for it.

The phone system page, before joining

  1. 'Join' opens the program note. 'Find out more' explains the program first.
  2. 'PBX Settings' is where Chat's settings live, under Connect App Feature Settings.
  3. 'Call Recordings' is where Call IQ's settings live, under Call Transcription.

2. Read the note and join

The program note names the three features and sets out what to expect.

  • Tell us what you think with a thumbs up or down.
  • Expect regular notes from us.
  • Your calls are used to tune the service for you and nothing else.
  • Early features may change.

The program note

Tick 'I'm authorised to enable these features' and the 'Join' button becomes available.

3. You're in

Joining takes effect straight away. All three features are ready to use on the phone system, and each has a button that takes you to its settings.

You're in

A welcome email goes to the address on the account with a link to each feature.

4. Your phone system page after joining

The banner is gone, the Early Adopter Program badge sits beside the logo, and two buttons have joined the row above the configuration tiles.

The phone system page after joining

  1. 'Early Adopter Program' reopens the panel above, with the link to each feature's settings and the option to leave.
  2. 'Reporting and Intelligence' opens the new Service Portal.
  3. 'Reporting Dashboard' is the existing reporting, unchanged. The two run side by side. Not everything in the existing dashboard has moved across yet, so keep using whichever has the report you need.
  4. The badge appears on every portal page for this phone system from now on, so anyone with portal access can see it is enrolled.

5. Feature settings

Reporting and Intelligence

Nothing to configure. Open it from the 'Reporting and Intelligence' button on the phone system page. The existing Reporting Dashboard keeps working alongside it.

Chat

Chat is controlled under 'PBX Settings' in Connect App Feature Settings.

Connect App Feature Settings

The Chat box (1) turns Chat on for the phone system. Untick it and the related options disappear from every user account. Leave it ticked and each user account shows its own Chat options, so you decide who gets it.

The same panel controls the Global Contact Directory, including whether the directory is synced to physical handsets.

Call IQ

Call IQ is set under 'Call Recordings' in Call Transcription. Call Recording itself must be on, which is the switch at the top of that page.

Call Transcription levels

Then pick one of three levels (1).

Level What you get
Off Recordings only, as today.
Transcribe A written transcript of each recorded call.
Call Recording Intelligence Transcript plus an AI summary and a sentiment read on each call.

Each level needs the one before it. You cannot turn on the AI summary without a transcript, or a transcript without recording.

Choosing 'Call Recording Intelligence' shows a short acknowledgement before it switches on.

The Call Recording Intelligence acknowledgement

The acknowledgement covers four points.

  • The feature is in early access and recordings may be re-processed from time to time to improve the transcription and analysis.
  • That re-processing is not used to train AI models on your data.
  • Processing may happen on internal infrastructure or with infrastructure partners, including Amazon AWS in Australian regions.
  • It is free of charge until 31 October 2026.

Choose 'I Understand & Enable' to continue.

Three things to know about transcription

  • The level applies to calls recorded from that point on. Existing recordings are not re-processed.
  • Only recorded calls are transcribed. Call Recording must be on for the phone system, and for the numbers or extensions you want covered. Recordings are kept for 90 days.
  • Recording and transcription carry notification obligations for the person on the other end of the call. Check your call recording notice covers transcription.

6. Leaving the program

Click 'Early Adopter Program' on the phone system page, then 'Leave Early Adopter Program'.

The badge disappears, the three features switch off, and the phone system goes back to how it was. You will get one short email asking why, which you can ignore.
